abstract = {Rhythmic midtemporal discharge (RMTD) is a rare, benign EEG pattern that may have epileptic morphology. Recognizing variations of RMTD is important in order to avoid over- or misinterpretation of EEG findings, which may lead to inappropriate treatment and negative consequences for the patient in question. We present a case report of RTMDs during light sleep where initial erroneous description necessitated repeat EEGs and additional diagnostic exams and led to the postponement of obtaining a drivers licence for this young patient.
